Animal Inn Wellness Center: Loftus DVM Michelle

The Animal Inn and Wellness Center is a renowned pet care facility situated on a serene 30-acre farm in the heart of San Juan Island. The property boasts picturesque views of Mt. Dallas, the island's highest peak, and is home to a variety of wildlife, including deer, red-tailed hawks, eagles, and foxes. Our furry guests share the farm with sheep, chickens, and our resident cat, Suki, as well as our friendly beagle, Whodie.

Established in 1972, the Animal Inn started as a self-serve boarding kennel and has since grown into a modern, full-service pet care center. The kennel's proud history is deeply rooted in the Sweet Pea Dairy, a larger farm and dairy that began in 1906 and was known for its high-quality produce. Today, the Animal Inn and Wellness Center continues to provide exceptional care for family pets, having catered to generations of beloved pets.

Our Team

*Dr. Michelle Loftus DVM and Kevin Loftus*

Dr. Michelle Loftus DVM, a seasoned veterinarian with over 30 years of experience, and her husband Kevin Loftus, a native of Chicago, fell in love with San Juan Island in 2000 and became its residents in 2005. Since then, they have dedicated their lives to caring for the pets that lodge with them and those that visit for special services. Dr. Loftus oversees the general health of lodging pets and is available for appointments for special services. Kevin, a business graduate of Northern Arizona University, manages the kennel and farm operations and ensures the well-being of all the furry guests.

Dog Accommodations

At the Animal Inn & Wellness Center, we understand that dogs are unique individuals with distinct needs. Our canine guests enjoy individual, climate-controlled enclosures fitted with cot-style beds and blankets for ultimate comfort. Dog-operated doors allow them to move freely between their indoor and outdoor covered runs, providing ample space to socialize, explore, and exercise during the day. At night, dogs are safely secured inside for a peaceful sleep.

Cat Accommodations

Catering to our feline friends' individual preferences, we offer a variety of enclosure styles. Each cat suite is equipped with cozy resting spots, hiding places, and a soft, inviting space to sleep. For those particularly finicky felines, we provide a luxurious Penthouse Suite to ensure their ultimate comfort and satisfaction.
