Our History
Fort Hill Animal Hospital has a rich history that dates back to the early 20th century. Founded by Dr. Ackerman, the hospital was later purchased by Dr. Arthur Trayford in the 1920s. In the 1950s, Dr. Frederick O. Wright took over the hospital and expanded its services. In 1980, Dr. Henry J. Travis, a local veterinarian, purchased the hospital and led its growth and development. Today, Fort Hill Animal Hospital remains a family-owned and operated business, proud of its heritage and commitment to delivering top-notch veterinary care.
Our Veterinarians
At Fort Hill Animal Hospital, we are proud to have a team of experienced and dedicated veterinarians, including our owners, Dr. Henry J. Travis and Dr. Lyndsey A. Travis. Dr. Travis, a native of Huntington, New York, graduated from Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 1974. Dr. Travis has extensive experience in small animal medicine and surgery, and has been recognized for his contributions to the field of veterinary medicine. Dr. Travis, also a local resident, graduated from the University of Georgia's College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. With a lifelong passion for animals, Dr. Travis has honed her skills in small animal medicine and surgery, and has a special interest in feline medicine.
