Led by Dr. Travis Thurman and Dr. Julie Mischke, our team has years of combined experience and a passion for animal care. Our doctors are both DVM graduates and have offices in our clinic where they see patients and provide medical consultations.
Dr. Travis Thurman, DVM, is a Bakersfield native and a graduate of Highland High School. He attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo for his undergraduate degree and later attended St. George's University for his veterinary degree. After completing his clinical year at Texas A&M University in 2008, Dr. Thurman returned to Bakersfield and joined the staff at San Joaquin Veterinary Hospital. He founded Thurman Veterinary Center in 2011 and has been dedicated to providing top-notch care to the Bakersfield community ever since.
Dr. Julie Mischke, DVM, is a passionate veterinarian who knew she wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as she can remember. She graduated from Colorado State University and decided to make her home in Bakersfield, California. Dr. Mischke is dedicated to providing the best care possible for every pet and enjoys the daily challenges and new experiences that veterinary medicine provides. When not at work, Dr. Mischke loves the outdoors, riding horses with her grandchildren, working the dogs in the field, and competing with the big dogs.
