Treating Your Pets Like Family

At River Road Veterinary Clinic, we are committed to providing high-quality medicine and surgery for both large and small animals. Our dedicated team of professionals strives to create a clean, friendly, and compassionate environment for all of our patients and clients. We welcome new clients to schedule an appointment and experience our exceptional care.

About Us

River Road Veterinary Clinic was founded in 1985 by Dr. Christine Pinello, who is a native of Bethel, VT. Dr. Pinello earned her B.S. in Animal Sciences from the University of Vermont and her M.S. in Botany from Iowa State University. She then went on to attend Cornell Veterinary College and earned her DVM in 1982. Dr. Pinello is a certified acupuncturist and incorporates alternative medicine into her practice, using acupuncture and herbal remedies in conjunction with traditional treatments.

Dr. Pinello is passionate about botany and has created a beautiful flower garden at the clinic. Handpicked flower bouquets can often be found in the clinic, adding a touch of nature to the healing environment. Dr. Pinello has been recognized as the Upper Valley's Best Veterinarian for five years in a row.

Our Doctors and Staff

Joining Dr. Pinello is Dr. Chris Dutton, who grew up with horses and has a diverse career in large animal medicine, dairy management, teaching in academia, and small animal practice. Dr. Dutton studied at Middlebury College and attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, where he earned his VMD in 1993. Dr. Dutton has worked with dairy farm technology to improve animal health, but he now works full-time at River Road Veterinary Clinic because he loves clinical work, the people of the Upper Valley, and pets.

We also have an honorary retired veterinarian, Dr. Charles Berger, who received his DVM from Cornell Veterinary College and owned and operated Campus Veterinary Clinic in Berkeley, CA for 35 years.
