Compassion, Service, and Integrity in Veterinary Care
At Southwest Veterinary Clinic, we are dedicated to providing the highest level of care for your pets. With a rich history dating back to 1970, our clinic has been a staple in the Southwest Atlanta community, serving the needs of our furry friends for generations. Our passion and dedication to animal care have driven our journey towards building a strong reputation as one of the premier veterinary clinics in Atlanta.
Our Story
Our journey began in 1970 when Dr. William McCant, a visionary and mentor to many in the community, opened Southwest Veterinary Clinic. With a commitment to service, compassion, and integrity, Dr. McCant proudly served the Southwest Atlanta area for 47 years. Unfortunately, Dr. McCant passed away in 2017, and the clinic closed its doors. However, his legacy lives on, and we have reopened the clinic in 2019 with a new generation of veterinarians and staff dedicated to carrying on his legacy.
Meet Your Veterinarians
At the helm of our clinic is Dr. Makeba Clarke, DVM. With a special interest in veterinary dentistry, internal medicine, and community medicine, Dr. Clarke is passionate about educating pet parents on how to help their furry friends live long, happy lives. A graduate of Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Clarke has worked in various settings, including corporate veterinary medicine, emergency medicine, and non-profit community-based veterinary medicine.
