Dr. Teryl Mayer, our founder and lead veterinarian, has been passionate about animal wellbeing since childhood. Her path to veterinary medicine took her on a remarkable journey, from pre-veterinary studies at the University of Iowa to earning her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She honed her skills in prestigious settings like bustling Chicago veterinary hospitals, gaining invaluable experience in all facets of veterinary care.

Dr. Mayer's commitment to providing exceptional care led her to establish South Pointe Animal Hospital in 2006. Her dedication has built a trusting relationship with countless clients in the CSRA and beyond, some even traveling from Alabama to benefit from her expertise.

Hillary Leeder joined our team with a lifelong admiration for animals. Her dedication to their welfare is evident in her four years of experience in the veterinary field. She brings a patient and caring approach to every interaction, ensuring each pet feels comfortable and well-looked after. Melissa Popplewell's journey to South Pointe Animal Hospital exemplifies her enduring love for animals. From rescuing racing greyhounds during her teenage years to becoming a certified Veterinary Assistant, Melissa's commitment has always centered around providing quality care to animals in need. Her three years of experience with our team showcase her dedication and expertise. Rachel Vanderbilt's fascination with exotic animals and her passion for helping animals in need are deeply integrated into her work at South Pointe. Having completed her Associates Degree in Applied Science from the Vet Tech Institute, she brings valuable knowledge and a gentle touch to our team.
