Organization History and Mission

Animal Charity of Ohio, Inc. proudly celebrates 60 years of saving the lives of abused, abandoned, and neglected animals in Mahoning County. Founded in 1963 by Dr. Jean Kelty and Perc Kelty, our mission has remained steadfast - to fight for the voiceless and provide compassionate care to animals in need. Today, we operate a comprehensive veterinary clinic and shelter, offering affordable services and programs to our community.

Who We Are

Animal Charity of Ohio, Inc. is a 501 c3 registered non-profit organization and the only humane society in Mahoning County. Our team includes passionate animal advocates, skilled veterinary professionals, and dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to:

• Investigate and intervene in cases of animal abuse and neglect
• Provide accessible and affordable veterinary care for pets of low-income families
• Shelter and care for abandoned and relinquished animals until they find loving forever homes
• Educate the community on responsible pet ownership and animal welfare
