Forest Animal Hospital, established in June 1976 by Dr. Michael Walker, is a full-service veterinary hospital located in Forest, Mississippi. We are dedicated to providing the best veterinary care throughout the life of your pet. Our mission statement reflects our commitment to serving our clients and patients in a courteous, professional, and kind manner while promoting regular preventive care and nutritional information.

Our clinic history began with a vision to provide quality veterinary services to the community. Over the years, we have evolved into a state-of-the-art facility equipped with the latest technology and staffed by experienced professionals. Our team, led by Dr. Michael Walker, is committed to delivering exceptional care to your pets.

Dr. Walker has over 40 years of experience in animal medicine and surgery. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State University and received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1974. He is married to Barbara Allen, also a veterinarian, and they have two children: Matt and Katie. The Walkers share their life with numerous companion pets.

Peggy Gibbs has been with Forest Animal Hospital for 21 years, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team. Dena Vowell has been a loyal employee since 1997, with a background in banking and insurance. Krystal Weaver, a graduate of the veterinary technician program at Ashworth College, has been with Forest Animal Hospital since 2004. Our staff is dedicated to providing top-notch service and care to your pets.

Our Facility

Our facility is designed to ensure your pet's comfort and safety. We offer a variety of services including boarding, dental care, laser therapy, surgery, and wellness programs. Our facility is equipped with an on-site pharmacy, where we safely store, measure, and dispense prescription and non-prescription medications and products. This not only saves you money but also saves you time, allowing your pet to feel better faster.

Our reception area is an inviting place for you and your pet to relax while you wait. Whether you are a new client filling out paperwork, dropping off your pet for boarding, checking in for a surgery, or signing in for an appointment, we strive to make your experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible.

COVID-19 Update

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have implemented measures to ensure the safety of our clients and staff. Our lobby is currently closed, and we ask that pet owners check in at our window or call ahead to schedule an appointment. Once you have checked in, please wait in your vehicle, and a friendly staff member will come out to get your pet. After our doctor has seen your pet, a staff member will return your pet to you and communicate any messages from Dr. Walker.
